Volunteer Work

& Community Organizations

Besides being a volunteer interior firefighter, EMT and officer in a busy company in the Town of Wheatfield, Kevin is proud to be involved with two other local organizations:
Greater Buffalo Firefighters Pipes & Drums

Kevin is honored to be in this service band as a piper.  Most of his out of town travel is so he can join his colleagues to play at LODD services and memorials across the Northeast.  The Band is most commonly seen leading the Buffalo Fire Department at both the Old First Ward and Delaware Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parades, welcoming Honor Flight Veterans home and other local events.  It was formed in 2012 following the LODD services for Buffalo Fire Department members Firefighter Jonathan Croom and Lt. Chip McCarthy and consists of members from all branches of emergency services and dedicated civilians.  You can find them on Facebook or www.fdpipes.org

Fireboat E.M. Cotter Conservancy

The Edward M. Cotter fireboat is regarded as the oldest working fireboat in the world, having started service in 1900. The boat was one of Kevin’s grandfather’s last assignments which was part of the draw for him.  The Conservancy was formed to bring awareness to this local treasure and to work to help raise funds to ensure it remains in service for years to come! Check them out on Facebook or www.emcotterconservancy.org
