Kevin S. Mahoney
After spending more than 27 years with one of WNY’s larger law firms, Kevin developed a healthy and varied legal experience which positions him well to counsel his clients in a sensible and cost-effective manner.
He looks forward to continuing his general counsel service to fire & ambulance companies and districts with the variety of issues each face on a regular basis. As an active interior firefighter, officer and EMT along with his years of working in this area uniquely positions him to assist in this regard.
With almost three decades of experience working in the family law area, he plans to continue assisting separating/divorcing couples in achieving agreements as a neutral mediator. After years of handling contested cases as well as mediations, he believes mediation is the best way to minimize the emotional and financial costs that litigation often incurs.
With similar experience in handling cases ranging from traffic tickets to local, state and federal criminal charges, he will also continue to handle select criminal matters.
Kevin was born and raised in Tonawanda, NY. His mother was an English teacher and his father a Math teacher. His father was also a volunteer firefighter, keeping up a family tradition in the fire service as his father was a Buffalo Fireman. As a result, Kevin and his sister had the benefit of growing up in a loving home that valued education, doing the right thing and having concern for others, something he hopes he and his wife have passed along to their children. At an early age he had the good fortune to gain employment coaching competitive gymnastics which he then did for 24 years through college and into the early phases of his legal career. That experience helping others work through challenges to overcome obstacles has many parallels to assisting clients with their legal issues both in terms of problem solving and problem prevention. His volunteer work in the fire service both as a responder and an attorney has many parallels related to problem solving and helping people when not having their best day.
